For Those Who Care, and I Understand if you do not: Today I Quit Being a Christian. I'm in October I Remain committed to Christ as always but not to being "Christian" Being part of or to Christianity. Simply it's impossible for me to "belong" to this quarrelsome, hostile, disputatious, and deservedly infamous group. For ten years, I've tried. I've failed. I'm an outsider. My conscience will allow nothing else.
... And then:
As I said below, I Quit Being a Christian. I'm in October In the name of Christ, I refuse to be anti-gay. I refuse to be anti-feminist. I refuse to be anti-artificial birth control. I refuse to be anti-Democrat. I refuse to be anti-secular humanism. I refuse to be anti-science. I refuse to be anti-life. In the name of Christ, I quit Christianity and Being Christian. Amen.
Unfortunately, it turned to atheism itself - continues to practice "wishful thinking" (believing in something without evidence just because you want it to be true and / or the belief you are comfortable), to believe in the "supernatural" of their religion (birth to from a virgin, miracles, resurrection, etc..) self-declare himself "a follower of Jesus," and all those things. But in rejecting Christianity itself because of all its evils (it lists a number of them), by failing to describe themselves as "Christian" and to tell the world - and their millions of fans - just because it is it does, perhaps "light" others with it. No doubt the world would be better if a good percentage of Christians to convert to a more "soft," less conservative and anti-progress, more "live and let live" their religion.
And reject their religion (even continuing to "believe") is often a great first step toward a rational life and free of "wishful thinking". Maybe one day she and others reach a sufficient level of honesty to admit they are doing it , and that is not intellectually honest to do so.
