  1. Caro,

Other times I spent here and I notice that the blog, although the texts of good quality, insists on the model of opposing religions to atheism.

All we want is that the religious atheists discuss religions.

Atheism is philosophical sophisticated, autonomous, and rightfully so, can (and should) be discussed outside of religious themes. Unfortunately, most (perhaps all) atheists blogs fall into the same trap of the deities.

In my humble blog Brazilian treated in the text of 18/11/2008, this issue under the title "About Atheism".

    Greetings

      Hello,

Thank you for your compliment. :)

The way I see it is a little different: atheism in its most basic definition is simply the absence of belief in a god or gods. It is not, by itself, a position, or a value system. (Something very different to say that atheists do not have a value system - or rather, each have one, but they have all one system, since atheism is not one. ... This sentence was strange)

In my case, although I'm interested in the various philosophical issues related on the other hand I care / worry about most is what happens in the world around me, and the question of trying - with the tiny influence that might have - make the world a whit better. Hence it can not - or want - to ignore the harm done by the various religions in the world.

On the other hand, there are lots of prejudices about atheism and atheists - from Evangelicals in the U.S. who think we are immoral monsters and claim to see no possibility of morality without a belief in (and fear) God, by the Portuguese around me , so typically apathetic, and they still say thoughtless and ignorant nonsense like "I am is agnostic, atheists are as fanatical as the worst of the believers." Hence, I think important to have (more) a site on the net so that at least those who have some curiosity and some interest in the truth (instead of relying on stereotypes or the priest / pastor told you) can learn something about the subject.

In conclusion: I understand what you mean, and it makes sense (see the comparison in your blog , the vegetarians who speak almost exclusively of meat), but as I said, I do not consider atheism in its simplest definition a philosophy (such as not believe in Santa Claus is not ... but believe it would be an adult sign of mental illness), and I think criticizing religion - both in terms of truth or otherwise of his allegations, both in terms of evil that is in the world - important and even necessary, because few people actually do.
